Anthropologie

Although I enjoyed anthropology in university I LOVE Anthropologie! The woredrobe transition from my 30s to 40s hasn't been an easy one. I used to be a size 0 where everything looked good on me. Then my sizes went up incrementally as I got older and I found/find myself at a loss, in terms of what looks good on me and what's "age appropriate". I don't FEEL 40 something and I'm no longer a size 0.., but I'm not old (!) and I'm still cute! So what do I wear?

My old favorites are no longer acceptable at this stage of my life (Guess and Bebe). These are for the next generation of clubbers, hoochies, and divas. What with their tiny frames, young elastic skin, and perky T&As. Mother nature- thou art heartless!!!!! So where does that leave me?

I'm not as fashion conscious as I used to be but maybe that's because I've felt I have to bow down to younger hipper generations while I shake my cane at them. That is the wrong attitude! I told myself. So I've been exploring NEW brands and shops, and I've come across some fantastic finds I would never have considered in my youth. They're now oddly appealing. One of those is Anthropologie! There are some great styles on their website which appear age appropriate for women in their 40s. I recently added a pink tulle skirt and lace blouse to my shopping cart and a sexy sophisticated dress with interesting colors and patterns. It's not a cheap store but I guess their clients are older women with careers.

Another shop I discovered, actually a boutique, called the paperdoll has some cute more affordable styles. I picked up a chic skirt with a front slit and a couple of interesting, form fitting knits. I might not be a size 0 anymore but that also means I've grown bigger boobs! There's always a silver lining :)

The thing with paper doll is that their merch sells out fast! They're styles are great and priced affordable for most, so if you see something you like- nab it! See below for some of my picks from these two great vendors and share some of your favorites with me!
